Why is it called Dakota?

"It was the aircraft that changed the face of air travel in the 30's and particularly today it encapsulates the HEART, SOUL and SPIRIT behind this stylish, affordable brand."

In 1936 the airliner made it's maiden flight from New York to Chicago and went on to revolutionise air travel by offering stylish service and cabin accommodation at an affordable price.

Previously air travel had been the exclusive reserve of the rich and famous. The Dakota broke the mould, took the market by storm and became the world's first commercial successful airliner.

Dakota brings an entirely new dimension to the hotel business, it wakens up a very sleepy industry and establishes itself as a serious and stylish alternative to mainstream hotels.
