The Gallery of Modern Art opened in 1996 and is housed in an elegant, neo-classical building in the heart of Glasgow city centre. The building was refurbished to house the city's contemporary art collection, and is an appealing combination of old and new architecture. It incorporates a number of artists’ commissions.
