Why the name, Dakota?


The Dakota aircraft changed the face of air travel in the ‘30’s and today
it encapsulates the Heart, Soul and Spirit behind the DAKOTA brand. Air travel,
once a privilege of the rich elite was revolutionised by this aircraft.
It offered stylish service and cabin accommodation at an affordable price.


This concept applies today to the DAKOTA brand.

    We are seeking a hard working applicant to join our Housekeeping Team in the role of Linen Porter for our 132 bedroom hotel located in South Queensferry.

     

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Count in linen deliveries and manage linen stock by counting all linen to be sent away for laundering and inhouse stock.
    • Strip beds and remove all used linens and towels from guest bedrooms ahead of the Room Attendant servicing the room.
    • As relief cover, you will be required to carry out the tasks of a Room Attendant on occasion. This requires you to thoroughly deep clean guest bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, make beds, and detail to provide guests with an immaculately clean and welcoming space.
    • Carry out more heavy duty tasks within the department such as mattress turning, and setting up z-beds and cots.
    • Action notes on guest preferences and requests to personalize guest stays e.g. provide firm pillows.
    • Follow health and safety procedures closely at all times particularly pertaining to the handling of waste and manual handling.
    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of safe chemical handling guidelines and usage of cleaning equipment such as steamers.

     

    SHIFT PATTERN

    • Team members on full-time contracts must be able to work any 5 days out of 7, and part-time team members must be able to work weekends.
    • General shift times are 8:00-16:00 and 9:00-17:00 weekends.

     

    The successful candidate will have a keen eye for the small details and genuinely care about upholding the highest standards of cleanliness throughout our hotel. Previous cleaning experience is preferred but not essential.

    The Assistant Night Manager is responsible for supporting the Night Manager in the running of our Front of House Team while on duty, ensuring the safety and care of our guests at night. As the Manager on shift, the role carries the responsibility of leading emergency evacuations and liaising with the emergency services in crisis situations.

     The role also carries out Reception functions such as checking-in and out guests, making reservations and handling guest billing. The shift consists of carrying out the Night Audit, carrying out end of day banking, and completion of the Nights Checklist including ensuring the immaculate cleanliness of our meeting rooms and public areas, as well as the Bar & Grill. In the absence of the Bar Team, the role will also serve guests on an ad hoc basis in the bar.

     The role is predominately 4 days on – 3 days off per week, on a rota’d basis, with working hours typically from 22:00-08:00.

    Located on the corner of Russell St and Greek St, our city centre location has great bus and train transport links.

    We are an 84-bedroom luxury full-service hotel with a destination cocktail Bar inclusive of an outdoor terrace and Champagne Room, as well as a brasserie-style Grill and executive events space.

    Reporting to the head Bar Tender, the primary responsibilities of the role are to:

    •Ensure the bar is adequately stocked at the start of service and is well-maintained
    •Work with the front of house team to ensure all drinks are delivered to the guest between 3-5mins from ordering
    •Carry out the cash up from the service period

    The candidate we are seeking will have:
    •At least 1 years experience as a cocktail bar tender
    •Be passionate about the detail and quality of beverages they create
    •Have demonstrable skills in sincere hospitality and service provision
    •An appreciation of luxury hotel standards and premium products
    •Ability to work at pace
    •Relevant English alcohol licensing certifications are strongly preferred

    –To carry out Reception duties including welcoming guests to Dakota, checking in guests, carrying out ad hoc requests, making bedroom and table reservations, light Housekeeping tasks, checking out guests, and handling guest billing.

    –To have a comprehensive knowledge of the Front Office computer systems.

    –Provide a consistently excellent level of guest service in accordance to our service principles and values.

    –Ensure that all guests receive special attention and recognition.
